On the evening of June 27, Meitu held a conference in the Beijing Summer Palace and officially released the Meitu T9 selfie-centric smartphone. Actually, we have been attentively following the news referring to this device, and we knew everything about it. So it’s the time to confirm all of those features officially.

Our protagonist is packed with a dual-pixel dual-camera on the back as well as on the front. Thus, we are dealing with a quad-camera handset that offers not only strong photographing features but also a decent specs list. The main camera uses a combination of the Sony IMX363 + Samsung 4E8 sensors. Both support OIS, PDAF phase focus, etc.

First of all, the Meitu T9 is the world’s first smartphone, based on human bone recognition technology. It uses a skeletal point recognition technology, combined with MTlab’s big data golden ratio algorithm, to intelligently adjust your body proportions.

Second, it supports Beauty Age 3.0. This technology provides excellent beautification options and supports 3D beautification, based on special 3D files stored in the phone’s memory. The former one is a multi-layer technology that does makeups according to the different size, color, shape and other facial features that should be processed one after another. Plus, In the MeiOS 4.3.4, at the end of July, the Meitu T9 will add the full-body beautification video mode.


The Meitu T9 integrates AI features such as AE automatic exposure, intelligent multi-frame noise reduction, intelligent light fill in low-light conditions, MTColor professional color management engine, AI automatic white balance (AWB), DoF calculation on the background blur based on high-definition depth maps, professional-level blur, and various modes.

The phone runs on MeiOS 4.3 based on Android 8.1. Due to it, the battery life is increased by 30%, CPU performance is increased by 80%, fluency is increased by 62.5%, application startup speed is increased by 28.6%, the response speed is increased by 37.6%, and startup speed is increased by 59.7%.

The manufacturer has also upgraded MTgame 2.0. Thus, it provides game performance optimization for the TOP 20 games. At the same time, the fluency increased by an average of 28%, the network acceleration increased by 25%, and it supports ‘Do not disturb’ second-gen mode.

As for the hardware, the Meitu T9 is packed with a Snapdragon 660 chip. By the way, this is for the first time, when a Meitu phone comes with a Qualcomm chip. It also sports a 6.01-inch Samsung AMOLED full-screen (18:9), 4/6GB of RAM, 64/128GB of storage, 3070mAh battery supporting 18W dual-engine fast charging, SLS duper linear dual speakers, ESS Hi-Fi chip, and USB Type-C interface.

In terms of pricing, the 4GB+64GB is available at 3399 yuan (US$ 513), while the 6GB+128GB model costs 4199 yuan (US$ 634).
