Samsung Electronics has introduced its latest 860
PRO and 860 EVO Solid State Drives (SSDs). They are company’s latest SATA
Interface lineup to integrate latest 64-layer V-NAND technology and MJX Controller for ultimate
performance and reliability.
The 860 Pro features in Samsung V-NAND 2bit MLC
while the 860 EVO sports Samsung V-NAND 3-bit MLC. They also include Magician
Software for SSD management. Samsung is offering up to 5 years warranty (or up
to 4800 / 2400 TBW) for these SSDs.
The Samsung 860 PRO and 860 EVO supports up to 560
MB/s read and 530 MB/s sequential write speeds (up to 550/520 Mbps read/write
in EVO). Their Ran.Read/Write speed (QD32) is 100K IOPS / 90K IOPS and max 98K
IOPS / 90K IOPS respectively.
The new MJX Controller allows faster communication
with host system and can easily handle workstation storage, while improving
Linux operating system compatibility. Samsung 860 Series SSDs image -1The 860
PRO comes in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities. Statistically speaking,
the largest 4T can store up to 114 hours 30 minutes of 4K Ultra HD videos. It
comes in 2.5-inch form factor.
The 860 EVO on the other hand comes in 250GB, 500GB,
1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities. It comes in MSATA & M.2 form factor for
ultra-slim computing applications. There is a 2.5-inch version for PC’s and
Laptops as well. The Samsung 860 Pro costs about US$ 139.99 while Samsung 860
EVO SSD has suggested retail price-tag of US$ 94.99.
