Last week, Honor launched the Play 40 Plus smartphone in China featuring the Dimensity 700 chipset and a massive 6,000mAh battery. The brand has now finally made the device available for purchase in its home country. The Honor Play 40 Plus base variant costs 1,199 Yuan (US$ 165) and has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Priced at 1,399 Yuan (US$ 193) and 1,599 Yuan (US$ 221), respectively, are the device’s 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variants. The device is available for purchase in four colors: black, silver, blue, and purple.
The Honor Play 40 Plus has a teardrop
notch on its 6.74-inch IPS LCD display. The display features a 20:9 aspect
ratio and a refresh rate of 90Hz. It has a 720 x 1600 pixel HD+ resolution. The
device houses the Dimensity 700 chipset which is paired with 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM
and 128 GB / 256 GB of internal storage. The device is preinstalled with the
Android 12 operating system, which is layered with the Magic UI 6.1.charging.
The phone features a massive 6,000mAh
battery paired with 22.5W quick charging. Honor claims that once it is fully
charged, the smartphone can offer up to 23 hours of video playback time. It
includes a 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front. It has a 50-megapixel
primary camera and a 2-megapixel auxiliary camera on the back panel. The
smartphone also has a side-facing fingerprint scanner, 5G capability, Bluetooth
5.1, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Lastly, the device has an 8.27mm
profile and weighs roughly 196 grams.
