Cleo Robotics just announced the Dronut X1, a donut-looking drone that was the first to have a bi-rotor duct. According to the company, the Dronut X1 does not only have an unconventional design, it also uses a different flying technology from the traditional drones. Because it's a bi-rotor ducted drone, it can fly in previously uncharted areas for any drone.
This device is created by Cleo Robotics for
indoor use os it lacks outer propellers that are present in other drones. Also,
the ducted fan design allows the user to operate it safely, even in close
proximity to humans. Moreover, the Dronut X1 is claimed to use the company's
thrust vectoring technology for lift resources. Meanwhile, it also has several
other sensors that provide different functionalities for the drone.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon
processor, this drone is claimed to be is suitable for applications in
challenging environments such as tight spaces even with poor or no
illumination. In addition to this, it
comes with a 3D LiDAR, a 4K camera, a global shutter camera for precise
positioning. These additions can make the drone function even in areas that
struggle with GPS service.
However, it was noted that the Dronut X1
offers only 12 minutes of flight time even fully charged. Cleo Robotics said
that its battery can be charged from flat to full in just 40 minutes. The
battery of the device however only offers 12 minutes of flight time on a full
charge. The battery can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in 40 minutes.
Dronut X1 priced at USD 9,800. The Dronut
X1 is now available for order in the United States but no information yet if
it's going to arrive in other countries.
