Lei Jun and other Xiaomi executives had confirmed that there will be new Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 and Xiaomi tablet products this year. Today, Xiaomi officially announced that it will hold a spring new product launch conference on March 29th. The company is expected to release two Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro phones at the conference. It will also unveil the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro as well as the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5.
According to @DigitalChatStation, the
Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 will increase its display size. It will increase from 8 inches
to about 11 inches. This is about the same size as the iPad. Apple’s new iPad
launch is postponed to April.
According to the Weibo report, the Xiaomi
Mi Pad 5 supports a high screen refresh rate. Previous reports show that the
Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 will come with the Snapdragon 870 SoC. This device comes with a
10.95-inch 2K resolution display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The reports so far
show that this display will come from Huaxing Optoelectronics/BOE. Furthermore,
this tablet will come with a special MIUI system. The company calls this system
MIUI for Pad. Furthermore, it also comes with a side fingerprint solution as
well as an LCD screen.
In the camera department, this device
comes with a dual rear camera setup. It uses a 20MP + 13MP rear camera system.
Also, this tablet will be about 8.13mm thick and weighs about 510g. The launch
of this device will end a three-year hiatus in the Xiaomi Tablet lineup. The
last tablet from Xiaomi is the Mi Pad 4 Plus which was launched in 2018. Just
like the Xiaomi tablet lineup, there is also a long break from the MIX series.
With the outbreak of the coronavirus
pandemic, the demand for huge display devices hit the roof. The likes of
Samsung, Huawei, and Apple had huge benefits from this demand. Well, the demand
for tablets and tablet PCs is still high and other manufacturers are hitting on
the opportunity. Xiaomi is one of these companies and the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 will
arrive just at the right time.
Although Xiaomi will not be able to battle
Samsung and Apple, it has its own market. Though it has been three years since
we last saw a Xiaomi tablet, the company has its fan base. Hopefully, these
fans are waiting for the arrival of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5.
