The rugged Doogee S95 Pro is
now available after a few days of teasing by the company. Like the S90 Pro,
this phone supports Motorola-like add-on modules that can extend its
functionality with a snap. The S95 is rated IP69K – on top of the usual dust
and water resistance, it can withstand high-pressure cleaning with 80° water
fired at the phone at 80-100 bar. It also has the MIL-STD-810G rating. This
ruggedness comes at a price, though, the phone measures 13.8mm thick and weighs
a hefty 285g.
One of the launch day add-ons
is a 3,500mAh external battery that complements the built in 5,150mAh battery.
The Doogee add-ons use magnets so they just snap on and connect to the phone
via a grid of pogo pins. The phone can charge at 24W (12V/2A) over USB-C.
The other add-on is a speaker
module rated at 6W. This comes with its own 2,000mAh battery so it won't drain
your phone's power. (it promises 3 hours of music playback). It also has a
kickstand to prop up the phone (necessary as the speakers are aimed towards the
back).
The new phone offers more
processing power than the S90 Pro thanks to the MediaTek Helio P90 chipset and
8GB of RAM, running Android 9 Pie. The storage is 128GB of UFS 2.0, which you
can expand with a microSD card up to 256GB.
The Doogee S95 Pro features a
6.3” 1080p IPS LCD with 18:9 aspect ratio. A sheet of Gorilla Glass 4 protects
its integrity. There’s a fingerprint reader mounted on the side of the phone
and a customizable button.
The main camera on the back
uses a 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor (1/2”) and can record 4K video at 30fps. Next to
it is an 8MP ultrawide camera (117°) and an 8MP depth-sensor. The ultrawide cam
can also do macro shots at 4cm distance. The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor
and an 80° lens. You can find the Doogee S95 Pro on AliExpress for € 337 for
just the phone. A combo pack including the 3,500mAh battery and the loudspeaker
add-ons is € 430.
