HP has finally refreshed its Chromebook lineup with
two new products called HP Chromebook x360 12b and HP Chromebook x360 14b. For
those who’re unaware, Chromebook laptops are designed for entry-level consumers
with limited sets of features. Additionally, it runs on Chrome OS and needs an
active internet connection all the time. Since the inception of Chromebooks,
the entire lineup has seen different changes with laptop companies trying to
leave behind the boring and basic design.
Keeping that in mind, HP has now added two
affordable convertible Chromebook laptops to its portfolio. This new lineup is
super compact and features a touchscreen display with the support of Universal
Stylus. Here is everything you need to know about these two recently launched
Chromebooks.
The Chromebook x360 12b features a 12-inch display
with a resolution of 1366×912 pixels and 3:2 aspect ratio. You can find the
same display aspect ratio on Google Pixelbook and Microsoft Surface. Even at this
price, the bezels on the display are quite thin. Of course, it is not
ultra-thin but at this price, it will be unfair to expect that. The laptop
comes with a 360-degree rotatable hinge allowing the display to be angled at
any point depending on the user’s convenience.
Under the hood, the laptop is powered by an Intel
Celeron N4000 processor paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB storage. Coming
to the ports and outputs, HP Chromebook X360 12b comes with 2x USB Type-C port,
1x USB-A, audio jack and MicroSD slot for storage expansion. Furthermore, the
laptop supports Bluetooth 5.0 and gigabit-class WiFi. As per the brand, the
laptop can last for up to 10 hours on a single charge. The Chromebook x360 12b
is priced at US$ 350.
The Chromebook x360 14b features a similar design as
that of the 12b model. The laptop comes with an overall metal keyboard base. It
features the same display with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels and 4:3 aspect
ratio. Coming to the ports and outputs, both the laptops offer the exact same
options. The Chromebook x360 14b is more like a powerful alternative to the 12b
since it comes with Full HD display and Pentium processor. Even in terms of
storage, this laptop comes with 128GB of onboard memory and up to 12 hours of
battery backup. The laptop weighs around 1.6kg and is priced at US$ 379.
Both the laptops support HP Universal Stylus
Initiative (USI) but as expected, the stylus and its magnetic dock will be sold
separately. The HP USI Stylus will set you back US$ 70 and will be available for
purchase from November. Additionally, both the laptop offers one-yeara
membership of Google One.
