Microsoft introduced Surface Hub 2 with 50.5-inch 4K
multi-touch display with 3:2 aspect ratio and extremely thin bezels and several
new features back in May. At the Ignite the company has announced that the
Surface Hub 2S with lighter, thinner, more vibrant design will be available in
Q2 2019 with original Surface Hub software.
It also said that it can be updated to Surface Hub
2X in 2020 using an upgrade cartridge. This includes the ability to tile,
rotate, and enable multi user log in with removable processor cartridges, in an
easily accessible hardware chassis on the back of the Surface Hub 2.
Microsoft said that the processor cartridge can be
removed, upgraded and serviced over time. This will let you switch to the
Microsoft 365 powered Surface Hub 2X in 2020. Even though the software will be
different, both the Surface Hub 2S and 2X will have the same 4K edge-to-edge
multi-touch display, 4K cameras that rotate with the device, integrated
speakers, and far-field mic arrays. Microsoft hasn’t revealed the price of
Surface Hub 2 yet.
