Sharp has officially introduced the
Sharp Aquos S3 high-end version stuffed with a more powerful processor and more
features. That variant ramped up the entire Aquos S3 variants to a total of 3.
While all three variants are at the moment exclusive to specific countries and
run Android 8.0 Oreo-based SmileUX out of the box, the company has now expanded
the availability of the Aquos S3 to South Korea, but with slight variation.
While the Sharp Aquos S3 selling in other markets
booth Android 8.0 with SmileUX out of the box, the model available to South
Koreans is based on the Android One platform with clean Android UI running on
the latest Android 8.1 Oreo.
The device is said to be exclusive to SK telecoms at
an unknown price tag, and we are currently not sure if it will make it out of
South Korea. The Sharp Aquos S3 Android One will join the low-end Android One
S3 phone which is currently only exclusive to Japan.
Aside from the variation in the OS, Other specs are
largely the same with the Sharp Aquos S3, and as a reminder, the Aquos S3
sports a notched 6-inch FHD+ display with 91% screen-to-body ratio and 32GB of
internal storage. It gets a 12-megapixel primary rear camera with f/1.75
aperture, 1.4um pixel size, dual-tone LED flash, 13-megapixel secondary camera
for portrait shots and 2x loss-less zoom, while it bears a 16-megapixel front
camera with support for face unlock that scans 1024 facial points to unlock the
phone in 0.1 seconds.
