This time, a report from South China
Morning predicts that the foldable phone or Samsung Galaxy X, whatever it is called
will be released sometime in 2019. Moreover, as per the report that takes cues
from industry experts and researchers also disclosed that the handset will use
a 7.3-inch screen and have an eye-watering US$ 1850 price tag.
As per latest reports, suppliers will start shipping
components to Samsung in November and mass production will intensify within two
months for a 2019 release. Some details regarding the display have also been
revealed. As per the report, the 7.3-inch display will fold up into two
4.5-inch panels. Moreover, the two foldable panels will fold inwards and there
will still be one on the outside., as Shinhan Financial analyst Park Hyung-woo.
The analyst is also sure that Samsung will once again showcase a prototype
behind closed doors at CES 2019, albeit a much more finalised model this time.
Samsung will make the handset available globally
whenever it goes official. The current prediction is that Samsung will launch
the innovative foldable phone in the first half of 2019 but due to the high
price it will be a very luxurious product. Also, Samsung will be launching the
Galaxy S10 at MWC 2019 in late February, as rumours suggest. So, the
Seoul-based OEM might withhold the foldable phone till the end of the first
half od 2019. There are other OEMs like Huawei, Oppo, and LG that are also in
the race for the foldable handset but no one seems to be as close to launching
one as dear old Samsung.
