Apple updated its 24-inch iMac with a new 12MP webcam, Thunderbolt 4, and the M4 chip, which has a minimum of 16GB of Unified Memory and Apple Intelligence. pple claims that the new M4-equipped iMacs offer up to 1.7x faster for daily productivity, and up to 2.1x faster for demanding workflows like photo editing and gaming compared to the M1 iMac. MacRumors says that the M4 is 25 percent faster than the previous M3 chip too.
It features a new 12MP Center Stage camera
with Desk View, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, and color-matched accessories
updated with USB-C. All variants now come with the 16-core Neural Engine which
should boost its performance with Apple intelligence. It is worth noting that
Apple Intelligence will be available on previous-generation iMac models with M1
and M3 chips. It will be available in an array of new colors: Green, Yellow,
Orange, Pink, Purple, Blue or Silver.
The entry-level variant comes with an
8-core CPU, an 8-core GPU, 16GB of unified memory configurable up to 24GB,
256GB SSD configurable up to 1TB, two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, Magic Keyboard
without Touch ID, Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad. It does not have an ethernet
port.
The 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU variant
can be configured with up to 32GB unified memory, and up to 2TB SSD. It is
equipped with four Thunderbolt 4 ports, an Ethernet port, a Magic Keyboard with
Touch ID, and a Magic Mouse or Trackpad. Additionally, the M4 iMac can be
configured to order with the nano-texture display option through Apple's
website.
