Huawei is gearing up to announce its first tri-fold smartphone – the Mate XT on September 10 and the teaser campaign for the device is in full swing. The latest addition is a short teaser video which gives us a sneak peek at Mate XT’s design.
The video is headlined by actor,
singer-songwriter, and film producer Andy Lau who is named as a brand
ambassador for Huawei’s Ultimate Design brand. Mate XT features a vegan leather
back with an octagon-shaped camera island that's not too different from the one
on the Mate 60 RS Ultimate.
A closeup shot of the Mate XT’s back
reveals it will be equipped with four cameras including a periscope module but
we don’t get any specifics on the sensors for now. The device is briefly shown
in a latter part of the video in its unfolded form focusing on the remarkably
slim profile.
According to the most recent rumors, Mate
XT will offer a 10-inch folding screen, a 5G-capable Kirin chipset, and up to
16GB RAM and 512GB storage. Speculations suggest the tri-fold smartphone will
cost somewhere in the CNY 16,000-17,000 range which translates to US$ 2,250-2,400.
