OnePlus is still working on its next pair of flagship true wireless earbuds, the Buds Pro 3. The company made the non-Pro Buds 3 available earlier this year, and the Nord Buds 3 Pro this month - but don't confuse the decidedly mid-range Nord Buds 3 Pro with the high-end OnePlus Buds Pro 3. Naming shenanigans aside, the Buds Pro 3 have been leaked today in two colors: Midnight Opus (black) and Lunar Radiance, which is described as a mix of silver and gold tones.
The case shape is quite reminiscent of the
Nord Buds 3 Pro's, to add to the confusion, but the finish definitely looks
much more premium. The OnePlus Buds Pro 3 will be co-created in partnership
with Dynaudio, and this fact is engraved on each earbud. The OnePlus logo, on
the other hand, takes center stage on the front of the case.
The case measures 6.5 x 5.2 x 2.6 cm and
weighs 61g. The OnePlus Buds Pro 3 will offer a total of 43 hours of battery
life with the case, while a quick 10-minute top-up should deliver 5 hours of
music playback time. The buds will be IP55 rated for dust and water resistance,
and they will use Bluetooth 5.4. Each bud will have two drivers: an 11mm woofer
and a 6mm tweeter, each with its own DAC. The Buds Pro 3 will support the LHDC
5.0 audio codec with up to 1Mbps bitrate and 24-bit/192KHz audio. Noise
cancellation will be advertised at 50dB, though we still don't know what such
numbers are actually supposed to mean - each manufacturer seems to be busy
one-upping itself and the competition by presenting us with ever larger
numbers, yet the feeling of ANC hasn't really evolved that much in recent
years.
The Buds Pro 3 will offer Dynaudio EQ with
presets personalized for different music genres. They will support dual
connections too. Those are all the details we have for now, we're looking
forward to these finally becoming official and testing them.
