Xiaomi has unveiled a new 120W USB-C Gallium Nitride (GaN) charger kit in the Chinese market, boasting a compact design and fast charging capabilities. The “Little Pudding” charger, as Xiaomi calls it, is available for purchase on JD.com for an initial price of 199 yuan (US$ 28).
The Little Pudding lives up to its name
with a white, rounded design that the company claims is 42% smaller than its
traditional 120W GaN chargers. This is attributed to the use of GaN, a
third-generation semiconductor material known for its excellent thermal
conductivity, high-temperature resistance, and small size. Despite its
diminutive stature, the GaN charger remains powerful, delivering up to 120W of
fast charging for compatible Xiaomi phones.
Xiaomi’s new charger isn’t just for
smartphones. It boasts wide compatibility with PD 3.0, QC 3.0, and UFCS 1.0
protocols, allowing it to intelligently recognize and efficiently charge a
variety of devices, including tablets, laptops, wearables, and more. The
charger can even provide up to 65W of continuous fast charging for laptops.
Safety is a priority for Xiaomi, and the
Little Pudding charger is packed with features to ensure a safe and reliable
charging experience. These include a fire-resistant and
high-temperature-resistant shell, intelligent temperature control, and multiple
protection mechanisms against overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating, short
circuits, and more.
In terms of dimensions, the charger
measures 34mm x 34mm x 53mm, and it operates within a temperature range of
-10°C to 40°C. The charger kit comes bundled with a 1.5m USB-C to USB-C data
cable that supports 120W fast charging. This extended length provides
flexibility for various charging scenarios, eliminating worries about short
cables.
