Samsung is nearing the launch of its new rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active 5. The new tablet has already made it to several certification websites, including Singapore’s IMDA, the UAE’s TDRA, and others. Following the past trend, the much-awaited rugged tablet has appeared on Thailand’s NBTC with model code SM-X306B. The listing confirms its 5G connectivity and its nearing launch. Apart from this, there’s hardly any information regarding the tablet’s specifications.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 renders
recently appeared while shedding light on the tablet’s design aspect and even
confirming some notable features like the presence of a single rear camera. The
rugged tablet seems to pack an 8-inch display with thick bezels around the
edges. There are three physical buttons: – Menu, Back, and Home, which can be
controlled using gloves. Further, it comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5
enhanced protection for the display and embeds a single front camera. The
MIL-STD-810H-certified device appears to carry a single 13MP rear camera along
with an LED flash.
As per the FCC, the tablet is confirmed to
feature an S Pen stylus with an option for a customizable programmable key, and
it also offers IP68 protection, matching the device. Apart from the hardware
features, it will include renowned Samsung Knox security protection, face
recognition, and fingerprint scanning.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 is expected to
come with an Exynos 1380 SoC, 6GB of RAM, and 64/128GB of internal storage. It
will also support expandable storage while accompanying a 5050 mAh battery. In
terms of connectivity, it will include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS
connectivity. The new tablet will run Android 14 out of the box and could
arrive in black and gray color options.
