Xiaomi introduced the Redmi 13C 5G – an affordable smartphone with next-gen cellular connectivity, a 50 MP main camera and an interesting design of the back panel with starry elements. The phone differs from the LTE-only Redmi 13C, in both the chipset and camera departments. The Redmi 13C 5G has a 6.74” LCD with HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The panel does not allow an under-display fingerprint scanner, so the sensor is embedded in the power key on the right-hand side, below the volume rocker.
The chipset is a Dimensity 6100+ with an
octa-core CPU, reaching 2.2 GHz speeds on its two performance cores. Storage is
either 128 GB or 256 GB, while RAM is 4 GB, 6 GB, or 8 GB. The Redmi 13C 5G
could have been mistaken for its LTE sibling if it wasn't for the cameras on
the back. The island is visually different and on the two big black circles we
see only two shooters. The 50 MP main one has an f/1.8 aperture in front, while
the resolution of the auxiliary one is not even mentioned by Redmi in promo
materials or the official specs sheet.
The selfie camera is tucked inside a
waterdrop notch and has a 5 MP sensor, which is a slight downgrade from the 8
MP cam on the other Redmi 13C. Xiaomi is selling the Redmi 13C 5G with a 5,000
mAh battery that supports 18W PD charging through the USB-C port but included only
a basic 10W adapter in the retail box. The phone has a dedicated microSD slot
in the card tray, where it can also have two SIM cards with simultaneous 5G
support.
Other noteworthy specs include a 3.5 mm
audio jack, Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top and Gorilla Glass protection for the
display. The phone is also splash and dust-resistant, which is always a nice
feature in affordable phones. Xiaomi Redmi 13C 5G is available in three colors
– Starlight Black, Startail Green, and Startrail Silver. It will cost INR
10,999 (US$ 120/€ 110) for 4/128 GB, INR 12,499 (US$ 140/€ 130) for 6/128 GB, or INR
14,499 (US$ 160/€ 150) for 8/256 GB once the sale begins on December 16. The phone
will be sold on mi.com, amazon.in, and Xiaomi retail stores across India.
