Design software giant Figma has unveiled its first-ever hardware offering—the Figma Creator Micro. This dedicated macro pad, born from a collaboration with Work Louder, is poised to redefine how designers interact with Figma’s powerful suite of tools.
The Figma Creator Micro is not merely a
rebranded version of an existing macro pad. Figma has gone the extra mile by
preconfiguring the device with essential Figma shortcuts, streamlining
workflows for users straight out of the box. According to Rob Bye, Figma’s
Product Manager, this means users won’t have to spend valuable time setting up
the device; it’s ready to enhance their Figma experience from day one.
The compact Creator Micro boasts 12 keys
and two rotary encoders, providing quick access to frequently used tools and
functions. What sets this macro pad apart is its adaptability; while designed
for Figma, it can be easily customized to work seamlessly with other software
applications. This flexibility is achieved through VIA, a robust keyboard
customization software that allows users to remap keys and create macros
tailored to their unique needs.
Recognizing the challenge of remembering
custom key assignments, Figma includes three sets of keycaps in the box. Users
can choose between an all-black set, Figma’s signature colors, or keycaps
adorned with Figma software icons—a thoughtful touch that enhances user
experience and visual recognition.
With Figma’s official stamp on a dedicated
hardware solution, the Creator Micro has the potential to introduce macro pads
to a wider audience. The company’s commitment to providing an optimized
out-of-the-box experience could significantly reduce the barrier to entry,
making advanced design workflows more accessible to professionals and
enthusiasts alike. The Figma is priced at US$ 139 and is presently available for
pre-order. The product is expected to start shipping in the first half of the
coming year.
