Samsung has released the S49CG932SC curved gaming monitor as the trimmed-down version of the Odyssey OLED G9 S49CG954SC, which was launched in June. The S49CG932SC monitor retains most of the specifications from its predecessor, delivering a top-tier visual experience with its 49-inch OLED panel featuring a 32:9 aspect ratio and 1800R curvature.
It offers a dual 2K (5120×1440) resolution
for intricate detail, making it suitable for both professionals and gamers.
With a 240Hz refresh rate and a rapid 0.03ms response time, it ensures smooth
and sharp visuals, greatly enhancing the user experience. The monitor stands
out with its native 10-bit color depth, 99% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and
1000 nits peak brightness. These qualities are vital for content creators
seeking vibrant and accurate colors. Additionally, QLED Quantum Dot Technology
and a static contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 contribute to dynamic and enriched
visuals.
The S49CG932SC monitor offers versatile
connectivity with HDMI 2.1 and DP interfaces to accommodate different user
needs and device compatibilities. While maintaining similar panel
specifications, it features a redesigned stand, suggesting improvements in
aesthetics and ergonomics. The dimensions of the new model, with the stand, are
1194.7 x 529.3 x 236.9 mm and without the stand are 1194.7 x 365.0 x 180.8 mm.
The S49CG932SC monitor is priced at 9,999
yuan (US$ 1,370), making it more affordable than its predecessor, which initially
cost 15,999 yuan (US$ 2,193). There are reports that in Q2 2023, the global PC
monitor market saw a sharp 17.1% decline due to the waning effects of the
COVID-19 pandemic, which had initially boosted monitor sales. However, a
positive long-term outlook is anticipated, with a predicted recovery in Q4
2023. Factors such as the growth of hybrid work models heightened demand from
gamers for high-performance displays, and the introduction of new monitor
models are expected to lead to market stabilization and revival beyond 2025.
