Sony PlayStation 5 Slim

Sony is believed to be working on a new PlayStation 5 model that will be dubbed the PlayStation 5 Slim. The company has launched Slim variants in the previous PS4 generation as well, and this variant will likely house a thinner form than the regular version. Now, a new leaked video has given us a clearer view of this upcoming model, so let’s have a look.

In a previous report, we covered another leak, which shared an image of the PS5 Slim model. But a fresh tweet on X (formerly Twitter) has shown off the entire gaming console in a video. The leak was shared by developed @BwE_Dev. It is currently unknown if this is actually the PS5 Slim, but it does appear to be authentic. Looking at the video, the PlayStation 5 Slim model from the Japanese tech giant appears to be similar in design to the base PS5.

However, there are a few design changes. The Slim variant retains the overall form with the four side panels and a slit in the middle of the panel, which is similar to the PlayStation 4. Although, there is a prominent hump on one side due to the disc drive slot. The PS5 Slim seems to feature a body with a thinner internal frame than the regular version and houses two new USB-C ports on the front, unlike the single USB-A and USB-C options on the base model.

Based on earlier reports, Sony plans to equip the refreshed PS5 model with a more power efficient 5nm APU from AMD. This chipset should pair well with the slimmer profile of the upcoming console. Unfortunately, finer details like its pricing and availability are still at large, but rumors have hinted at a September launch with a 399 US Dollar price tag.
