Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 2023

When the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE arrived in India in January 2022, it was the Exynos 2100 version and its base configuration of 8/128GB sold for ₹ 50,000 (the 8/256GB variant was ₹ 54,000). Now Samsung has decided to relaunch the phone, this time with the Snapdragon 888 chipset that other regions enjoyed. Technically, the phone is called the “Galaxy S21 FE 2023”. Does that mean that there will be other changes? Not really. The Tech Outlook got hold of internal training materials to prepare employees for the (re)launch of the S21 FE and everything looks the same (other than the chipset, of course).

This means a 6.4” 120Hz display, an FHD+ AMOLED panel, a 12MP main, 12MP ultra wide and 8MP tele camera (3x), plus a 32MP selfie camera. The battery has 4,500mAh capacity and supports 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. One small change is that there is no mention of an 8/128GB model, just 8/256GB. Oh well. There will be four colorways to choose from: Navy Blue, Olive, Graphite and Lavender. Note that Navy Blue is a new color, it replaces the White option that was available on the Exynos version.

One thing that we’re curious about is whether the Galaxy S21 FE 2023 will launch with Android 12 or 13 out of the box. Well, what we actually want to know is the final Android version for this model – will it get an extra update over the 2022 model? Unfortunately, the training materials are mum on the subject. Finally, there is the topic of price - the phone will launch at the same ₹ 50,000, but since it has double the storage this is technically a discount.

By the way, a while back Samsung re-released the S20 FE 5G, it was called the “Galaxy S20 FE 2022” and was available only in select countries like South Korea and Mexico. It was basically the same as the Snapdragon S20 FE, so the S21 FE story is nothing new.
