Just yesterday Honor launched the Pad X8 Pro in China, now the same tablet has arrived in Europe, albeit under a new name. So, meet the Honor Pad X9. This slate has a sleek build and is dialed in for multimedia. It has a fairly large 11.5” IPS LCD with 100% sRGB coverage. The display has 2,000 x 1,200px resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
The X9 is equipped with 6 speakers total –
two each on the left, right and bottom sides. The bottom-firing speakers are
meant to bounce sound around the room to create a 360° audio experience enabled
by the Honor Histen tech. The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 685 and runs
MagicOS 7.1 (Android 13). It supports Google Kids Space as well as the Family
Link app, so that parents can set limits on content access and screen time. If
you have several Honor devices, Honor Connect will share notifications between
them and make file transfers easy.
The tablet has a metal body that measures
6.9mm thick and weighs 495g. This is with a 7,250mAh battery inside. The Honor
Pad X9 has only one configuration for now – Wi-Fi, 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage
for € 250/£ 180. It will be available in German now and in the UK from July 19
through the HiHonor online store. The UK store will give you a free pair of
Honor Earbuds X5 (£ 40) if you buy before the end of July. The tablet will also
be available through other retailers: Amazon, Argos, Very and Currys.
For comparison, the old Honor Pad X8 is
€ 180/£ 140 in a 4/64GB configuration. The older slate is smaller – 10.1” 60Hz display,
1,920 x 1,200px – and has a smaller 5,100mAh battery. Also, it only has stereo
speakers and uses a MediaTek MT8786 chipset.
