Today, Honor held an event in China, centered around the Magic V2 foldable, but the brand also showed off a premium tablet and an eSIM smartwatch - the MagicPad 13 and the Magic Watch 4. Let's start with the MagicPad 13. It's Honor's first MagicOS 7.2-powered tablet and that means that it pioneers Honor's new mobile office experience. Honor Docs features a word processor app, as well as a note-taking app in Honor Notes.
The MagicPad 13 comes in Sky Blue, Star
Gray, and Moonlight, a sort of Beije color. Upfront is the highlight of the
slate - a 13-inch 2880x1840px IPS LCD with a variable refresh rate that
switches between 30Hz/48Hz/50Hz/60Hz/90Hz/120Hz and 144Hz. Touch-sampling rate
is up to 240Hz. The display is HDR10-ready with 1.07b colors and covers the
DCI-P3 color gamut. Honor claims the panel has a color accuracy of below
∆E<1 and a 700-nit peak brightness. Honor calls the display IMAX-enhanced.
Next is the audio experience. There are a
total of 8 speakers and 4 microphones on the MagicPad 13. Honor claims this is
the industry's first 3D spatial audio setup that doesn't require headphones. Honor's
Magic Pencil 3 is designed specifically for the new MagicPad 13. It has a
skin-friendly coating and a matte texture. The stylus has 4096 levels of
pressure sensitivity and a latency of 2ms. Using the Honor Magic Pencil on the
MagicPad 13, users can highlight objects and text and then copy-cut-paste them
across apps, as well as pick a color from anywhere in the UI, which is helpful
for design applications.
Inside the tablet is a Snapdragon 888 chip
with 8GB, 12GB or 16GB of RAM. That power is put to good use with support for
HDR video editing straight on the device (naturally, the Magic Pencil 3 comes
in handy there as well). The USB 3.2 Gen 1 type-C port is also convenient for
storage attachment and can output 4k 60fps to an external monitor. For cameras,
the MagicPad 13 has one 13MP f/2.0 autofocusing unit on the back, and a 9MP
f/2.2 fixed-focus selfie on the front. The tablet can go for days thanks to a
10,050mAh battery with 66W charging.
The Honor MagicPad 13 is on pre-order
starting today and will go on general sale on July 20. The tablet starts from
CNY 2,999 (€ 376, INR 34,300, converted) for the 8/256GB model, is CNY 3,299
(€ 415, INR 37,700, converted) for the 12/256GB, and CNY 3,699 (€ 465, INR
42,300, converted) for the 16/512GB model. There's a folding keyboard accessory
for CNY 599, while the Magic Pencil 3 is CNY 499.
