The ASUS ROG gaming handheld is now open for pre-orders ahead of the opening of its official sales in China on June 14. The new gaming handheld is part of the ASUS lineup including new gamepads and headphones. The ASUS ROG handheld is powered by the AMD Z1 Extreme processor and comes with a 7-inch 1080p display. It has a display refresh rate of 120Hz and was released globally on May 11. The global price tag of the ASUS ROG handheld is US$ 699. The gaming handheld has a weight of 608g.
The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor is
specially customized for gaming handhelds. It uses the Zen 4 advanced
architecture and RDNA 3 integrated display. The chipset has 8 large cores and
16 threads. Its graphics processing performance can reach 8.6 TFLOPS. The
graphics architecture of the ROG handheld supports AMD FSR and RSR resolution
technologies for improved frame rate and picture display.
There is effectively no stuttering when
using the ROG handheld it is also equipped with the Glacier cooling
architecture for handhelds. It has dual fans on its side, effectively ensuring
low noise levels and optimal temperature for the device. The ultra-thin ice
fins of the ROG handheld help to keep the entire device to be cool. This is in
addition to its optimized vertical heat pipes which help to keep the machine
stable under various usage conditions.
The ASUS ROG handheld has a memory/storage
configuration of 16GB + 512GB. Its storage capacity can be enhanced via a
UHS-II microSD card slot. The ASUS ROG handheld supports Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
The response rate of the handheld is 7ms and it supports FreeSync Premium
anti-tearing technology. The maximum brightness of the screen is 500 nits and
the screen supports ten-point touch. The handheld also features the Altron
Smart Control Center SE for optimized game management. The ASUS ROG gaming
handheld can be pre-ordered via JD.com. However, ASUS is yet to release the
price of the model. This will be revealed at the official opening of sales on
June 14.
