Apple’s WWDC 2023 event was full of new product announcements, including macOS Sonoma, iOS 17, Vision Pro, and a 15-inch MacBook Air. But not all of Apple’s new products were featured on stage. One of the overlooked items was the company’s new 70W power adapter, which is now available for purchase on Apple’s online store.
While charging technologies have become
incredibly fast, Apple has been slow to adopt them. The company has always
prioritized stability over innovation, and this is reflected in its charging
speeds. If we compare, many modern Android phones support higher charging
speeds compared to MacBooks. However, Apple is always improving its products.
Recently, the company introduced a new 70W power adapter.
This new adapter is designed to charge laptops
faster, and it was released alongside the new 15-inch MacBook Air. It costs US$ 59
and is compatible with a wide range of USB-C devices and charging cables. Apple
recommends using this power adapter with the 15-inch MacBook Air, the 13-inch
MacBook Air with M2 chip, the 13-inch MacBook Pro (2016 and later), and the
14-inch MacBook Pro.
The 70W power adapter provides fast and
efficient charging at home, work, or on the go. It can charge the 15-inch
MacBook Air from 0 to 50% in about 30 minutes. The adapter is also compatible
with other USB-C devices, such as the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. It’s worth
noting that Apple has ceased selling its previous 67W power adapter. While it
is still listed as included with the 14-inch MacBook Pro, it is no longer available
for individual purchase.
