Xiaomi held a big event in India today, where the Redmi Note 12 series' international debut was marked. In a refreshing change of pace the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ that will be sold in India are identical to their namesakes available in China. The launch event was for the “Redmi Note 12 Series 5G”, suggesting Xiaomi may introduce an LTE-only member to the Redmi Note 12 family in the near future.
The Redmi Note 12 comes with a 6.67”
AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. It has two
cameras on the back, of which only one can be used to produce images - the 48MP
main shooter with PDAF. The phone comes in Green or Black and costs INR15,499
($187/€175) for the 4/128 GB variant or INR17,499 ($210/€200) for the 6/128 GB.
Sales begin on January 11, with the phone being available on Mi.com, Amazon,
and retail outlets.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro has the same overall
design, but it's actually a bit smaller than its vanilla sibling. It brings a
Dimensity 1080 chipset and a 50MP camera, while the 5,000 mAh battery supports
67W charging. The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in are Black, Blue, and Pink colors.
Prices are INR 24,999 (US$ 300/€ 285) for the base 6/128GB version, INR 26,999
(US$ 325/€ 307) for 8/128GB mid-tier model and INR 27,999 (US$ 340/€ 320) for top
8/256GB spec. Xiaomi offers discounts of up to INR 3,000 (US$ 37/€ 35) to early
buyers you can get one from January 11 at Mi stores, Flipkart and partner
retailers.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is the leader of
the series. It has the same footprint as its non-Plus sibling and shares its
OLED panel and 5,000 mAh battery - but it is the first device in India with
Samsung’s ISOCELL HPX sensor for the 200MP camera. Charging is also blazing
fast at 120W, and the adapter is provided in the retail box.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ will start from
INR 25,999 (US$ 315/€ 295) for the base 8/256 GB variant, while the 12/256GB is
INR 28,999 (US$ 350/€ 330) with applicable discounts. Color choices are Black,
White, and Blue. Just like its Pro sibling, this phone will be available on
January 11 at Mi.com, Flipkart, and select third-party retailers. Sadly, the
Redmi Note 12 Discovery with 210W charging and a smaller 4,300 mAh battery will
not make it outside China, and we are yet to see if the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed
escapes the domestic scene and under what name.
