It may be December 2022 but Motorola already has its sights set on 2023 and it just announced its Moto G Play (2023) for the US market. The phone is a successor to the first gen Moto G Play from 2021. The second-gen Moto G Play brings a 6.5-inch IPS TFT LCD with HD+ (720 x 1600px) resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The back houses a 16MP main camera. Motorola’s official spec sheet mentions an f/1.22 aperture for the main sensor though that would be a remarkable move for a midranger and we’re more inclined to believe the actual value is f/2.2 instead. There’s a 2MP macro cam here as well as a 2MP depth module.
Moto G Play (2023) features a MediaTek
Helio G37 chipset, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage which is expandable via the microSD
slot. The phone boots Android 12 and packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 10W
charging. Other notable features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a rear-mounted
fingerprint scanner and an IP52 water-repellent design.
Motorola G Play (2023) comes in a single
Deep Indigo color and retails for US$ 170 in the US. Open sales start on December
12 via Motorola’s website, Amazon, BestBuy and all major pre-paid carriers.
