Normally, it is the F-series that is the pride and joy of the Poco line. However, the Poco X4 GT arrives with the exciting Dimensity 8100 – a mid-range chipset born in TSMC’s 5nm fabs with four Cortex-A78 cores and a new Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. This chip has posted some impressive results and usually outscores the Snapdragon 870 (and it can hold its own against the 888 as well).
The GT has a passion for gaming, which is
evident in the 144Hz display – the fastest refresh rate in the family. The
touch sampling rate is 270Hz. This is a 6.6” LCD with 1,080 x 2,460px
resolution (20.5:9) and it can render 1 billion colors (it supports Dolby
Vision as well). Peak brightness is 650 nits (500 nits typical) and the panel
uses DC dimming. Also, it is guarded by Gorilla Glass 5 (the X3 GT had Victus).
Going back to the chipset, it uses
LiquidCool Technology 2.0 for heat management with a vapor chamber that is 32%
larger than on the X3 GT, plus there are now 7 layers of graphite. The chipset
is paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Poco has listened to your demands and has
brought back the 3.5mm headphone jack. This means no Bluetooth latency to worry
about and you can charge your phone while you play. Speaking of, the phone has
a 5,080mAh battery that charges at 67W with the included power adapter. A full
0-100% charge takes 46 minutes. This battery is big enough to binge videos for
22 hours straight. Besides headphones, you can also use the Dolby
Atmos-certified dual speakers.
The display is a tad taller than on last
year’s model, which has allowed Poco to have over a millimeter of width, making
the handset more comfortable in the hand. The weight increased slightly to 200g
(up from 193g). The X4 GT is available in Black, Blue and Silver. The GT model
is equipped with a 64MP camera with a larger sensor than last year (1/1.72”,
0.8µm native pixels, 1.6µm with binning). It is joined by an 8MP 120° ultra
wide-angle cam (1.12µm), plus a 2MP macro camera. On the front is a 20MP selfie
camera (1/3.06”, 1.0µm).
A few more things to note. First is the
side-mounted fingerprint reader. Second is the X-axis linear motor. Wireless
connectivity includes 5G, of course, Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and there
is even an IR blaster. The Poco X4 GT will become available on June 27 (Monday)
through select retailers, including the official Poco online store. Between
June 27 and July 7 there will be an early bird discount of €80 on the regular
prices of € 380 for an 8/128GB unit and € 430 for an 8/256GB phone. More
retailers will offer the X4 GT soon.
