Poco F4

The Snapdragon 870 was good enough for last year’s F3, is it good enough for the new Poco F4? That remains to be seen – the focus with the F4 was to improve the camera and battery tech. If you want cutting edge performance, the F4 GT has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Back to the Poco F4. It is the first in the family to feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). That aside, the main camera is nothing to write home about with its 1/2” sensor (0.7µm pixels, 1.4µm with binning) and f/1.8 aperture. Like on the X4 GT, it is joined by an 8MP ultra wide (119°) and 2MP macro modules on the back and a 20MP selfie camera on the front.

As for charging, the battery has essentially the same capacity as the F3, 4,500mAh. However, the charge rating has been doubled to 67W (adapter included), up from 33W. This has reduced the full 0-100% charge time from 52 minutes down to 38 minutes.

The display is the same as last year – a 6.67” AMOLED (Samsung E4) with 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. It has 1,080 x 2,400px resolution (20:9) and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits (900 nits typical). This is an HDR10+ display that now also supports Dolby Vision. Physical protection is handled by Gorilla Glass 5. Poco claims pro-grade color tuning with the TrueColor feature, but it didn’t supply any deltaE numbers. Like its sibling, the F4 has a side-mounted fingerprint reader and an X-axis linear motor. It has dual Dolby Atmos speakers too, but no 3.5mm jack. It does feature an IR blaster, though.

The Poco F4 will be available soon in two configurations. The 6/128GB option will cost € 400, while the 8/256GB one will be € 450. Note that there between June 27 (Monday) and July 7 there will be an early bird discounts of € 50 for both versions. The phone will be available from June 27 in select retailers and will expand to new stores soon.

In India the Poco F4 will be available through Flipkart (first sale on June 27) in three memory configurations: 6/128GB for ₹ 28,000, 8/128GB for ₹ 30,000 and 12/256GB for ₹ 34,000. Note, however, that there will be a discount for the first round of sales to the tune of ₹ 4,000 (which includes a ₹ 1,000 instant discount):
