Xiaomi‘s smart home products have got a new addition in the Mi Smart Camera 2 PTZ version. The smart camera carries an affordable 249 yuan (US$ 39) but is presently available for pre-order at a discounted price of 229 yuan (US$ 36). The new Mi Smart Camera 2 PTZ version features a 4-megapixels sensor with a 2.5K image resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. This is an improvement over the 2K camera as it brings better image clarity.
Further, the camera uses an F1.4 aperture
lens which doubles the amount of light input compared to an F2.0 aperture. The
camera is also equipped with a 6P lens which effectively reduces the rate of
light loss. In terms of image quality, the image is translucent just like
seeing it in person. The built-in high-sensitivity image sensor with a
high-performance image algorithm can still present color images smoothly in the
ultra-low light environment. At night, the Mi Smart Camera 2 PTZ version has a
built-in 940nm infrared fill light. It doesn’t output any visible red light
which won’t disturb the owner’s sleep at night.
In addition, the camera adopts a
dual-motor PTZ design. In this regard, the lens can be flexibly rotated up and
down, left and right. The camera can rotate up to 360 degrees horizontally and
108 degrees vertically. The camera can be paired with a smartphone which will
be used to see a panoramic view of the home. The camera also supports two-way
real-time voice calls with a pickup distance of as far as 5 meters. The
microphone also features support for intelligent noise reduction delivering
clearer voice output.
The rich array of features on board the
smart home camera includes a built-in AI humanoid detection module that can
detect the outline of the human shape faster. The camera can automatically
track and shoot after the human shape is locked, reducing the false alarm
caused by other object disturbances, thus reducing the trouble of false alarms.
In terms of security, each chip has a unique private key and certificate which
effectively guarantees data communication and storage security. At the same
time, the whole process of data transmission is encrypted including cloud data
which is encrypted with AES128-bit. Home owners can also customize the camera’s
sleep time.
