Redmi has launched a new router in China called ‘Redmi Router AX1800’. Although the product is new in the brand’s home country, it’s not in international markets. That’s because, earlier this year, Xiaomi had already released this router with Mi branding, a Qualcomm chipset, and more RAM in select countries. The Redmi Router AX1800 is priced at ¥ 229 (US$ 36) in China. As part of the pre-order offer, the product is currently being offered at ¥ 209 (US$ 33).
Talking about features, the new
Redmi-branded router offers WiFi 6 connectivity with OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency
Division Multiple Access). It has 4 external 5 dBi high-gain omnidirectional
antennas. These antennas support LDPC error correction algorithms to improve
anti-interference capabilities and signal coverage for data transmission.
It houses an unnamed dual-core 880Mhz CPU
paired with 128MB RAM. For those unaware, the global variant of this product
with Mi branding uses a 14nm Qualcomm IPQ6000 chipset consisting of a 1.2GHz
quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU and a 1.5GHz single-core NPU coupled with 256MB
RAM.
Other features of the router include 1 x
WAN port, 3 x LAN ports, beamforming, BSS colouring, WPA3, MU-MIMO, IPv6,
dual-band integrated into one, mesh network support, OpenWRT operating system,
and Xiaomi Easy Connect app support on both Android as well as iOS.
