Apple expands its ecosystem with the new AirTag and Apple TV 4K with the new Siri remote. Both improve the Apple experience at home and on the go. Apple AirTag is an iPhone accessory that provides a private and secure way to easily locate the items that matter most to you. It can be attached to a handbag, keys, backpack, and more. It taps into the global Find My network to help easily locate a lost item. Location data is kept private and anonymous via an end-to-end encryption solution.
The AirTag has a small and lightweight
circular design that is a size of a coin. It is made out of polished steel with
IP67 water and dust resistance. It also has a built-in speaker that plays a
sound to help locate an AirTag while a removable cover makes it easy for users
to replace the battery.
Inside, it has the Apple-designed U1 chip
using Ultra-Wideband technology enabling Precision Finding for iPhone 11 and
iPhone 12 users. As a user moves, Precision Finding fuses input from the
camera, ARKit, accelerometer, and gyroscope, and then will guide them to AirTag
using a combination of sound, haptics, and visual feedback.
Users can also shift an AirTag into Lost
Mode to be notified when it is in range or has been located by the Find My
network. If a lost AirTag is found by someone else, the person can tap it using
their iPhone or any NFC-capable device and be taken to a website that will
display a contact phone number for the owner, if they have provided one. AirTag
includes support for the accessibility features built into iOS. Precision
Finding using VoiceOver can direct users who are blind or low-vision to AirTag
with directions like “AirTag is 9 feet away on your left.”
The Apple AirTag can be connected to your
iPhone in an instant just like the AirPods. Just hold it close to your phone
and you are set. You can also name it with custom names to organize your tags.
It can also be personalized with a FREE engraving when purchasing from the
Apple Store app or Apple website. There are different AirTags accessories as
well such as the Polyurethane Loop, Leather Loop, and Lether Key Ring. There's
also an AirTag Hermès that includes leather accessories including the Bag
Charm, Key Ring, Travel Tag, and Luggage Tag.
The new Apple TV 4K is now featuring a
faster A12 processor, WiFi 6, Thread, and HDMI 2.0 port. It also has a new Siri
remote. The new Apple TV 4K can now support 4K 60fps HDR video output. The WiFi
6 supports 802.11ax with MIMO. Apple also included built-in Thread support,
making it the second Apple device to support it out of the box. Thread is a
low-power networking tech that offers a secure, mesh-based system able to
interface with other Thread-enabled smart home devices for improved
connectivity.

Pricing for the Apple TV 4K and the Apple
AirTag Hermès are yet to be announced. The Apple AirTag and AirTag Hermès are
set to be available on Friday, April 30. No word about local availability and
pricing yet. In the Philippines, both the Apple AirTag and Apple 4K TV with
Siri Remote are not yet available for purchase at the Apple PH webstore. There
is no word yet when it will be come available.
