Apart from joining forces with Puma to unveil the
first-ever smartwatch carrying the popular sportswear brand, Fossil is also
launching three new wearable devices at the IFA 2019 trade show in Berlin from
a fashion designer that has branched out to the tech industry years ago.
The latest collection of Fossil Group-licensed
Michael Kors smartwatches includes an all-new model with a lightweight design
and fitness focus, as well as two revised versions of existing feature-packed
and fashion-forward devices. Priced at US$ 295, the Michael Kors Access MKGO is
billed as the brand's "lightest smartwatch to date", combining
aluminum and nylon build materials to strike the perfect balance between
comfort and durability.
In theory, the silicone strap should make the
smartwatch look cheap (and not in a good way), but the bright red color
arguably helps the MKGO stand out from the fitness-centric Wear OS pack. If you
don't want to attract a lot of attention, you're free to choose a subtler
black, white, or pink option, all of which seem easily replaceable at first
glance. The Michael Kors Access MKGO is no pushover in terms of its specs and
features either, coming with a powerful Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor,
built-in heart rate monitor, untethered GPS connectivity, Google Pay support,
Google Assistant integration, and a swim-proof design.
Starting at US$ 350, the Michael Kors Access Lexington
2 and Bradshaw 2 obviously include all the above features, as well as a speaker
allowing wearers to make and receive Bluetooth-enabled phone calls on their
wrist in combination with an Android or iOS handset. The costlier and arguably
prettier Wear OS smartwatches also come with "more storage",
"more memory", and simple ways to extend their battery life to
"multiple days" on a single charge by switching off certain features
you may not need to use constantly.
Of course, the "glamorous designs" of the
Michael Kors Access Bradshaw 2 and Lexington 2 are a key selling point too, as
the latter model is available right now in gold-tone, rose gold-tone,
silver-tone, and two-tone stainless steel styles, while the former will come
next month in gunmetal, rose gold-tone, gold-tone, and silver-tone options, all
of which are likely to turn quite a few heads at your next dinner party.
