We weren’t expecting new laptops today, but Xiaomi is on a roll – so, meet the Xiaomi Mi Laptop Pro 15” and 14”. The 15” model boasts an E4 OLED display, this is the same type of panel used in Xiaomi’s flagship smartphones. It is very bright (for a laptop screen) with 600 nits peak brightness and features DC dimming. The 3.5K resolution of the display makes for a sharp 261 ppi pixel density, the aspect ratio is 16:10. This 10-bit panel has 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut and is calibrated before it ships (deltaE is around 1). And it borrows another thing from smartphones, Gorilla Glass protection.
The Xiaomi Mi Laptop Pro 15” is powered by
an 11th generation Intel Core processors – an i5 as standard with an i7 option.
In both cases there’s a GeForce MX450 GPU (2 GB VRAM). Cooling is handled by
two fans. This laptop qualified for the stringent Intel Evo Platform
certification. The laptop has a 66 WHr battery that supports fast charging at
100W. On the connectivity side, there is a Thunderbolt 4 port plus two USB-C
ports. Xiaomi is including a free port expander dongle in the retail package,
which adds a full-size HDMI and a USB-A port.
The 15” laptop is quite slim, measuring
just 15.9 mm. The chassis is made out of 6-series aircraft grade aluminum. The
Xiaomi Mi Laptop Pro 15” can be pre-ordered today, sales will begin on April 2.
Pricing starts at CNY 6,500 ($990/€845) for the i5 powered model with 16 GB of
RAM and 512 GB SSD. The i7 version is CNY 8,000 and comes with the same memory
configuration.
Xiaomi also created an AMD-powered version
of the 15” laptop with a Ryzen 5000H (45W) processor. This one is coming in
May. If you want something more portable, there’s the Xiaomi Mi Laptop Pro 14”.
It’s slimmer and lighter at 15.6 mm and 1.5 kg, respectively. Its chassis is
similarly made out of 6-series aluminum.
The display switches to a 120 Hz LCD with
2.5K resolution, also 16:10 aspect ratio. Color accuracy is still on the level
with a deltaE of 1.5, but there’s no HDR here. This model also gets a Core i5
or i7 11th gen processor plus GeForce MX450 GPU. Its 56 WHr battery charges at
100W. There is only one port, Thunderbolt 4, so you’ll really need that port
expander. Both laptops have Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.
The Xiaomi Mi Laptop Pro 14” will start at
CNY 5,300 (US$ 805/€ 690). This is for a Core i5 with 16/512 GB memory. A Core i7
with the same memory will set you back CNY 7,000. Pre-orders will kick off in
late April (from the 26th) and sales will begin on May 1.
