The Xiaomi Mi TV Stick is up for sale on
online retailers like AliExpress, Gearbest, and GizTop but the company is yet
to officially announce it. Instead, it is being spotted on certification
bureaus like EEC and now even Google Play Console. This clearly suggests its
official announcement is not so far away.
According to the product listings on online
retailers, the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick comes in two variants – 1080 (FHD) and 4K
(UHD). However, only the former has been spotted on Google Play Console
codenamed “aquaman” with model number “MiTV-AESP0”.
The same model was also found listing on
Geekbench scoring 547 points and 1482 points in single-core and multi-core
tests respectively. According to both the listings, it will be powered by
Amlogic S805Y SoC as confirmed earlier with Android TV Pie software.
On the other hand, the 4K version will be
powered by Amlogic S905Y2 as per online retailers but it is yet to be listed on
Google Play Console. However, as it is already on sale along with the 1080p
model, we expect it to receive certification as well in the near future,
followed by official announcement.
That said, the Xiaomi Mi TV will compete
directly against Amazon Fire TV Stick, which also comes in similar two
variants.
