TCL is one of the biggest smart TV brands
in North America, but unlike a lot of manufacturers that ship their TVs with
Android TV, TCL ships its products with Roku TV pre-installed. The manufacturer
has now announced two new smart TVs that come with Android TV, its first for
the American market. They are also
pretty affordable with the base model going for just US$ 129.
The first of the TVs is the TCL 32” Class
3-Series which has a 31.5-inch 720p LED screen. There is no HDR which isn’t
surprising considering its price. The TV has two HDMI ports with one of them
having support for HDMI ARC. For connectivity, you get 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth,
a single USB 2.0 port, and an Ethernet port.
TCL says it has Dolby Digital surround
sound and has included a built-in 10W speaker which should be fine if you want
to use it in a small room. But you may need to pick up a soundbar for better
sound. You can already tell that this is a bigger model from its name. The LED
screen measures 39.5-inches and has a 1080p resolution. It also comes with a
more powerful 16W speaker along with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound. You get
the same number of HDMI and USB ports as the 32” model and also the same
connectivity options.
Just like the 32” model, this also has a
voice remote with a dedicated Google Assistant button in addition to Netflix
and YouTube shortcut keys. TCL has put a price tag of US$ 199.99 on this model and
you can pick it up along with the 32-inch version on Best Buy.
There is no news of the TVs launching in
other markets here but we won’t rule out the possibility of that happening.
