Between the four iPhone 12 models expected
this year, the version with a 6.1-inch screen will be the first to go into
production this summer. The iPhone series will be more extensive this year with
no less than four iPhone 12 models offered. The official presentation is still
expected in September and it remains to be seen whether it will be necessary to
postpone the marketings after the delays accumulated in the development of the
series due to the coronavirus crisis.
According to the latest rumors, the two
6.1-inch iPhone 12s will be the first to go into production in July, the others
following a later schedule. The 6.1-inch opening-range iPhone version will use
a panel supplied by LG Display and BOE with a separate touch controller from a
third-party supplier, while the others will operate screens produced by Samsung
with Y-OCTA touch solution Integrated.
This greater complexity in the manufacture
of the 6.1-inch iPhone could explain the delay in launching the production of
the different versions. This unless LG Display needs more time to reach the
volumes and the quality imposed by Apple.
According to media reports, as is
customary in the past, Apple releases a new flagship smartphone in September
each year. However, there are speculations that this year’s iPhone 12 may be
launched in November. According to a report from the Wall Street investment
bank, Apple’s hardware shipments in the second quarter of 2020 were 35 million
units. This is down 13% from the same period last year. Apple’s four new
iPhones this year will support the 5G network as well as narrower OLED screens
with a notch.
Apple is expected to release four iPhones
this year: a 5.4-inch iPhone, a 6.7-inch iPhone, and two 6.1-inch iPhones. According
to reports, all four iPhone 12 will come with an A14 processor. In addition to
the screen size difference, the memory capacity also differs. The 5.4 and
6.1-inch standard models has 4GB RAM and a 256GB maximum storage. However, the
6.1 and 6.7-inch pro models come with 6GB of RAM and the maximum storage will
be 512GB.
According to previous reports, Apple may
adjust the iPhone 12 series standard model storage. It will increase from the
previous iPhone 11 series 64GB to 128GB. However, the starting price of the
iPhone 12 series will be cheaper than its predecessor. We all expect a US$ 649
starting price. Nevertheless, the most expensive device in this new series
could sell for up to US$ 1399.
