The Evangelion-inspired limited edition of
the Oppo Ace2 is now official and there’s a lot more to it than custom decals
on the back – there’s a lot of EVA-styled gear you can get. There’s the phone,
of course, but it looks different from the one we saw last week. It has a
purple and green color scheme to match EVA-01. The case included in the pack
has an even more elaborate design and there are EVA-themed wallpapers
pre-loaded.
Speaking of the pack, the box alone is one
of the coolest we’ve seen. It contains limited edition charger, cable and wired
headset. Even the SIM ejector tool is styled as the Spear of Longinus. If you
want to go wireless, there’s an Oppo Enco W31 TWS headset and an Oppo Air VOOC
wireless charger. A limited edition Oppo Watch can complete the look or you can
get the Oppo smart band (the band was supposed to be officially unveiled in
June, by the way).
Now for the bad part about collector’s
edition items – the price. The Oppo Ace2 EVA pack is CNY 4,400 (US$ 615/€ 560) and
will be limited to 10,000 units globally. Actually, it’s not bad, considering
that the vanilla Ace2 goes for CNY 4,000. The limited edition phone becomes
available on June 1.
The Oppo Watch EVA limited edition (in
Asuka orange and black) is CNY 2,200 and is again limited to 10,000 units. The
Oppo Enco W31 (Aya Polly white and blue) is CNY 400, Air VOOC wireless charger
is CNY 300 and will have even more limited availability (5,000 units).
If you like the EVA theme, but don’t want
to spring for the limited edition phone, you can download the custom wallpaper
and theme to any Oppo phone – there are three themes to choose from, but you’ll
have to buy them.
