Most IP and Wi-Fi-connected home security
cameras are designed to simply detect suspicious movement on a property.
However, the Lumus may improve on such products from Reolink in that it also
has a built-in spotlight. This augmentation is intended to deter potential
intruders from the home.
An increasing number of consumer-grade
security cameras are equipped with the night vision - even of the color
variety, in some cases - and motion-detection specs sufficient to prove there
were interlopers on one's property. Reolink has decided that these capabilities
can be built on with the ability to actively discourage the same, however. The
newest product from its Wi-Fi-enabled line integrates a spotlight that can go
off in response to movement.
The Lumus does this using a 1.6-watt
(W)/6500 kelvin (K)/180 lumen (lmn) LED lamp built into the top of its chassis.
This component will activate in response to a PIR sensor with a distance of 7 meters
(m, or 21 feet(ft)) and a pan of 100 degrees.
In addition, the camera's color night
vision (which has a 10m (33ft) distance) will continue to function while the
spotlight is on, allowing the Lumus to record details such as those of clothing
or vehicles. Its wireless connectivity allows it flexibility in placement,
although it does require a 5.0V/2A/6W power input to keep going. This footage
is taken using a 2MP CMOS sensor with a 1080p resolution. It can be stored to a
microSD card, a cloud or Reolink's proprietary NVR platform (subscription
possibly required).
Furthermore, the Lumus also has an alarm
that can go off along with the spotlight, as well as 2-way audio for the user.
It also has Google Assistant integration for those of a particularly smart-home
inclination. The Reolink Lumus is priced
at US$ 59.99, although it may be available for 10% off this for a limited time.
It can be ordered from this OEM's own website.
