Although the LG Stylo 5 is widely available in the
US, you can only buy it from carriers. The smartphone is sold by the likes of
Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint, as well as by prepaid service providers like
Metro by T-Mobile and Boost Mobile. But what if you want to purchase the Stylo
5 unlocked? Well, you can't yet, but we've discovered that you could at least
pre-order the unlocked variant of the phone.
Right now, B&H Photo Video is the only US
retailer that accepts pre-orders for the unlocked LG Stylo 5. B&H asks US$ 299.99 for the handset, which is compatible with most US carriers, including
the big four (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint). Unfortunately, there's no
release date mentioned, with B&H only saying that the unlocked Stylo 5 is
"coming soon."
Given that the LG Stylo 5 is cheaper than US$ 299 when
bought from carriers (and you could even get it for free in certain
conditions), the unlocked model seems a bit pricey. Anyhow, if you don't mind
spending US$ 300, you'll be getting a decent Android 9 Pie smartphone with a
unique feature for this price range: a built-in stylus pen.
Stylus pen aside, the LG Stylo 5 offers a pretty
large 6.2-inch display with 1080 x 2160 pixels, 3D surround sound, fingerprint
scanner, a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 3500 mAh battery. The handset
is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, further featuring 3 GB of
RAM and 32 GB of expandable internal memory.
