Since it launched in May, the Redmi K20 has received
several reviews praising its design, features, and affordable price tag. While
we do not expect a successor anytime soon, it has now been officially revealed
that there will be one and it will be called the Redmi K30.
The announcement was made yesterday by Redmi General
Manager, Lu Weibing, on his Weibo page. He not only disclosed the name of the
Redmi K20’s successor but also revealed that the phone will have 5G support.
There is still a lot we do not know about the Redmi
K30 but there is a high chance we will not have to wait until May 2020 for its
launch. It is exciting news to also know it will support 5G and it may very
well be the first mid-range Redmi phone with 5G support. Based on this news,
the Redmi K20 Pro’s successor (Redmi K30 Pro) will also have 5G support.
The Redmi K20 has a full-screen design – no notch
and no punch-hole – but it has a motorized pop-up selfie camera. Redmi may
re-use this design with slight modifications or go with a brand new one for the
Redmi K30.
Features like an AMOLED display and an in-display fingerprint
scanner are definitely going to make a comeback on the K30. However, it may
sport more cameras, probably a quad-rear camera setup; a 4000mAh or bigger
battery capacity seeing as it will have 5G support; and maybe even a
faster-charging technology too. These are our guesses for the upcoming phone
and may or may not be correct. Nevertheless, we are already excited about the
device.
