5G is the theme at this year’s edition of MWC
Shanghai. China Mobile kicked things off yesterday with its 5G+ Initiative at a
pre-MWC event while brands like Vivo announced its 5G plans. Today, Lenovo
announced the world’s first 5G laptop as well as the Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G Explorer
Edition.
This is the world’s first 5G laptop. It is powered
by the Snapdragon 8cx processor which is clocked at 2.75GHz. The rest of the
specs are not mentioned which isn’t surprising as it appears Lenovo just wants
to show that 5G will also be coming to laptops in the future.
The Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G Explorer Edition is powered by
the Snapdragon 855 processor and has a Snapdragon X50 Modem. It keeps its
6.39-inch AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch and packs a 4000mAh battery
just like the standard Z6 Pro. In a nutshell, only the components needed for 5G
differentiates it from the LTE version. However, there is a 5G logo beside the
rear cameras.
Promotional images show the phone has a see-through
back but live images show otherwise. There is no info on when the Lenovo Z6 Pro
5G Explorer Edition will launch and how much it will cost.
