Cubot Quest was announced back in October and the
Chinese manufacturer markets it as the world’s first sports phone. Because of
its thin body (just 8.8mm thick), fashionable design, durability and other
characteristics, Quest attracted much attention. Today, the phone finally hits
the market and launches globally on Gearbest at just US$ 149.99. In addition, the
youth version -Quest Lite- launched for just US$ 119.99.
Our impression about rugged phones is that they are
thick, heavy, and ugly, just like a brick. Cubot wants to change that so the
design is inspired by track racing and the streamlined appearance with the
ingenious red embellishment, fills everything with exciting elements. It is
meant to be creative and adventurous, something that defines young people’s
temperament.
As far as durability is concerned, Cubot Quest does
an excellent job thanks to the Gorilla Glass 5 and the solid internal
engineering structure. Now, when it comes to performance, the Quest isn’t the top flagship
of all time but it does an excellent job thanks to the Helio P22 SoC that is
backed by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Also, there is a 5.5″ HD
18:9 display while the battery capacity reaches 4000mAh. That, in conjunction
with Android 9 Pie, takes care of the power management and smooth operation. It
is worth mentioning that the rear camera hosts a Sony IMX486 sensor which is
expected to capture great photos.
Cubot tries to achieve a good balance between lightness
and endurance with the Quest and it seems that they’ve found the sweet spot.
