If you are looking for a new project to keep you
busy this weekend and have access to a 3D printer, you may be interested in
this excellent PyPortal 3D printing case created by the team over at Adafruit.
For those not familiar with PyPortal, it takes the form of an easy to use IoT
device that allows you to create all the things for the Internet of Things in
minutes rather than hours.
“Make custom touch screen interface GUIs, all
open-source, and Python-powered using tinyJSON / APIs to get news, stock,
weather, cat photos, and more – all over Wi-Fi with the latest technologies.
Create little pocket universes of joy that connect to something good. Rotate it
90 degrees, it’s a web-connected conference badge.”
“Let’s 3D
print a case for the PyPortal. Use the PowerBoost 1000C and a lipo battery to
make it portable. The case houses all of the electronics and snap fits
together. The enclosure features access to the microUSB port, micro SD card
slot and the USB recharging port. It uses a mini panel mounted toggle switch to
power the device on/off. There’s also a 1/4-20 hole for a standard tripod mount
so you can mount it however you’d like.”
