Just two days ago a new Meizu smartphone was
certified in China, and we expect it to be the Meizu 16s, promised to arrive in
May. Today, we spotted a new photo of the alleged device, confirming previously
leaked images of the flagship. It has a big screen and no notches, with
standard bezels on all sides.
The photo reveals the front-facing camera will be on
the right side of the upper bezel, while the screen itself appears to be flat,
meaning no curved edges. It seems to have 2.5D glass, which is more convenient
than the solution Samsung is implementing in its flagships in the past few
years. We can also confirm the new Meizu 16s will follow the Meizu 15 and Meizu
16 simplistic design where the screen has curved corners but offers plenty of
screen real estate.
Rumors suggested the diagonal is 6.2”, with a Plus
variant expected to have 6.76” panel. It is likely an AMOLED panel with Full
HD+ resolution. Official teasers say the bottom bezel is 16 mm thinner than the
one on Meizu 16. Other suggested specs include Snapdragon 855 chipset, 48 МP
camera and a price tag of over CNY 3,300 (US$ 500/€ 450).
