After smart home security company August was
acquired by Assa Abloy in 2017, it was assumed that the business would
disappear. Now it’s been over a year since the August brand released new
hardware, but it’s back with a new wireless doorbell camera.
This doorbell cam is called the August View and it
takes August’s existing doorbell product and makes it even better, with an
impressive 1440p resolution streaming of a customer’s doorstep directly to
their phone. It comes with instant motion alerts, minimal fisheye distortion,
zoomable video, an actual doorbell-like chime, and some cloud storage packages.
The main upgrade is that the slimline doorbell is
battery-powered. It comes with a rechargeable battery and micro-USB cable.
Users will like the fact that it should fit most entryways because some people
just don’t have space. The simple wireless DIY installation process will make
this a hit with both tenants and homeowners.
The device will go on sale on March 28 from
August.com and costs US$ 230. You will also get some swappable faceplates in the
box (four metal-effect and four colored), so you can match it to your home.
Consumers are going to like this offering from August. It will be available
later this month.
