The Kate Spade brand transcends the person that
co-founded the company 26 years ago and given her name to what is now one of
the largest in the handbag market. Lately, Kate Spade diversified its portfolio
with even more products, including smartwatches.
The newly announced Scallop 2 smartwatch is not the
first wearable device launched by Kate Spade, but this certainly seems the more
advanced to date, even though it's still equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon
Wear 2100 processor, a rather old chipset.
However, Kate Spade Scallop 2 packs some really
nifty features like built-in GPS and NFC (Near Field Communication)
connectivity, which allows users to make purchases via the smartwatch using
Google Pay.
Also, the smartwatch is water resistant up to 3ATM
and features heart rate tracking. Design-wise, the Scallop 2 is meant to women,
which is why Kate Spade insisted that smartwatch embeds some colorful animated
dials, as well as the company's signature spade and scallop detailing.
It's worth mentioning that the wearable device is
powered by Wear OS and compatible with Android OS 4.4+ (excluding Go edition)
and iOS 9.3+ smartphones.
The Kate Spade Scallop 2 smartwatch collection will be available just
in time for Valentine's Day gifting, online and in store for prices starting at US$ 295. Pre-sale starts today on the company's online store, but the smartwatch
won't arrive until late January.
