After launching in
China, Huawei has brought the two nova 3 phones to the world’s only other
market with over a billion people – India. Both devices are exclusive to Amazon
and will be available on August 7.
The Huawei nova 3
is a flagship in disguise. It has a 6.3” screen with 1080p+ resolution and a
notch. The chipset is the Kirin 970 paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
So this is like a P20 with a bigger screen and more RAM.
For INR 35,000 (US$ 510/€ 435)
you’re not getting the Leica-branded rear camera, but you do get a better
selfie camera than the P20 – it’s a 24MP shooter with a 2MP depth sensing
companion. There’s a 3D face scanner in there too! The Huawei nova 3i is the
first phone with the AI-focused Kirin 710 chipset. It too has a notched 6.3”
screen with 1080p+ resolution and 128GB storage with the respectable 4GB of
RAM.
At INR 21,000 this
phone competes with the P20 Lite (it costs essentially the same). The main
camera is the same 16MP + 2MP combo, though the 24MP + 2MP selfie camera
doesn’t quite match the 16MP + 24MP camera of the Lite. The chipset upgrade is
undeniable, however, and you get double the storage with the 3i.
Head over to Amazon
India to check out the nova 3 and nova 3i. Note that pre-booking the nova 3i
nets you an INR 1,000 cashback.
