Xiaomi Redmi 6A and Redmi 6



Xiaomi continues to bombard the market with great yet affordable smartphones as it officially launched the much-anticipated Redmi 6 series in the Philippines! The company has finally raised the curtain on its budget friendly devices, the Redmi 6A and the Redmi 6, today, July 18.

As previously reported, the company's Redmi 6A sports a 5.45-inch (1440 × 720 pixels) HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display and a pixel density of 295ppi. The smartphone boasts a polycarbonate back panel with a brushed metal surface.

For its optics, the device touts a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie shooter. Both cameras are equipped with AI (artificial intelligence) Portrait mode.  However, Xiaomi ditched the fingerprint sensor for Redmi 6A.

Despite this, the device is the first smartphone to carry the MediaTek Helio A22 12nm quad-core SoC paired with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16/32GB internal storage that is expandable to up to 256GB via microSD. It has a 3,000mAh battery.

The Redmi 6A also offers several connectivity options, including 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n (only 2.4GHz), GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB.
If you're looking for a much better device under this lineup, the Redmi 6 offers a dual camera setup as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Just like it sibling, it adopted a polycarbonate back panel with a brushed metal surface and retained the 5.45-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 80.7 percent screen-to-body ratio.

In terms of its camera, the Redmi 6 has dual rear cameras composed of 12MP and 5MP with AI fetaures. Its front-facing camera comes with 5MP, also enabled with AI to produce bokeh portrait shots.  Under the hood, the device carries the octa-core 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 SoC (clocked at 2GHz), combined with 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM or a 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM expandable up to 256GB via microSD.

Powering the device is the 3,000mAh battery inside. For connectivity, users can enjoy 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and micro USB. The two smartphones runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 and boasts a face unlock security feature.

Xiaomi decided to equip the devices with processors from Mediatek as huge improvements of the processor company have been showing recently. The Xiaomi Redmi 6A with 2GB RAM/16GB ROM is priced at PHP 5,290, while the 2GB RAM/32GB ROM variant is priced at PHP 5,990 only. On the other hand, the Redmi 6 with 3GB RAM/32GB ROM is priced at PHP 7,490, while the 4GB RAM/64GB ROM variant is priced at PHP 8,990.
