Xiaomi has launched the Mi 8 flagship smartphone in the Philippines. As a quick recap, the Xiaomi Mi 8
boasts a metal and glass design and a big 6.21-inch AMOLED screen with 18.7:9
screen aspect ratio and 88.5 screen-to-body ratio. It also has an FHD+
resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels at 402 pixels per inch.
Inside, it loads with the flagship Snapdragon 845
octa-core processor with Adreno 630 GPU. It will also come with either 6GB
RAM/64GB ROM or 8GB RAM/128GB ROM. Both are non-expandable. The battery size is at 3,400mAh
battery with Quick Charge 4.0 tech via USB Type-C port.
On the camera part, it has an AI-assisted dual 12MP
f/2.0 at the back. It boasts the AI Portrait and AI Beauty modes. For selfies,
you'll find a 20MP f/2.0 snapper that's AI-assisted as well. Xiaomi also claimed that it has a
good type of IR face unlock which works even in lowlight.
As expected, it has a fingerprint scanner, WiFi, 4G
LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-frequency GPS. Xiaomi claimed that
this type of GPS helps in giving accurate navigation most of the time. It loads with Android Oreo with
MIUI 10 soon.
The 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant is priced at PHP
25,990. On the other hand, the 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM model is priced at PHP
27,990. It will be available starting July 30 at Authorized Mi Stores in the
Philippines.
