Though technology keeps getting smaller and less
expensive, there are still some big leaps that need to be made before
professional-grade equipment can be called “affordable” by average consumers.
But, one such leap has just been made thanks to Blackmagic’s new Pocket Cinema
Camera 4K.
This palm-sized digital camera packs a wallop in a
remarkably small format – offering the ability to capture unbelievably crisp
and detailed images with its native 4096×2160 resolution 4/3 sensor, along with
13 stops of dynamic range and dual native ISO up to 25,600. It can also capture
RAW or ProRes UHD video at up to 120 frames per second, transferring it
directly onto standard SD/UHS-II or CFast 2.0 cards.
Finally, it also has a full-sized
HDMI port, Bluetooth connectivity, 3D LUT support, a USB-C expansion port, and
much more. And the whole thing is housed in an incredibly tough and lightweight
carbon fiber polycarbonate case. It can be yours soon for a shockingly low
sticker price of US$ 1,295.
